Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Who we are
The DHWSC (Daniel Harper World Snooker Championship) is a private annual snooker championship. This privacy policy explains how the DHWSC web application (dhwsc.com) and the DHWSC mobile scoring app collect and use personal data.
For any privacy-related questions, contact the tournament organiser at admin@dhwsc.com.
2. Data we collect
Account information
When you are given access to DHWSC systems, we store your username and email address. These are used solely for authentication — we do not use them for marketing.
Match and scoring data
Match scores, individual shot records, and break data are recorded and linked to your player profile. This data forms the historical record of the championship and is the core purpose of the application.
Push notifications (mobile app only)
If you grant notification permission in the mobile app, a push notification token is sent to our server. This token is used only to deliver match and sync notifications to your device. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
Device identifier (mobile app only)
The mobile app generates a random unique identifier and stores it securely on your device. This identifier is used to prevent two devices from scoring the same match simultaneously. It is not linked to any personally identifiable information and is not shared with third parties.
Authentication tokens
On mobile, JWT access and refresh tokens are stored in the device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). On web, session tokens are stored in memory and are discarded when you close the browser tab.
3. How we use your data
- Authenticating you when you sign in
- Recording and displaying match scores and statistics
- Maintaining the historical record of the championship
- Sending match event notifications (if permission is granted)
- Preventing concurrent scoring conflicts on the same match
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making.
4. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
We process personal data on the basis of legitimate interests — specifically, the operation and historical record-keeping of a private sporting event to which you have been given access. The processing is limited to what is strictly necessary for these purposes.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Match statistics and historical records may be visible to other authorised members of the championship within the application.
Our application is hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure within the United Kingdom. No data is transferred outside the UK.
6. Data retention
Match records and player profiles form the permanent historical archive of the championship and are retained indefinitely as part of that record. Authentication tokens expire automatically (access tokens after 15 minutes; refresh tokens after 30 days). Push notification tokens are removed when you sign out.
If you wish to have your personal details (name, email address) removed from the system, contact the tournament organiser at admin@dhwsc.com. Match records may be retained in anonymised form as part of the championship archive.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal details (subject to retention of anonymised match records)
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, email admin@dhwsc.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
8. Cookies
The web application does not use tracking or advertising cookies. A session cookie may be set for authentication purposes. No third-party analytics or advertising scripts are loaded.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
